I started my own CPA firm in December and immediately I started the EFIN process. On my first attempt to fill out the application, my EIN wouldn’t go in, got an error message, and I was told by IRS rep, I have to wait 2-5 weeks “for their system to get a new EIN in”. So I tried the next week and was unable to even get into the application. Called again and was told “we have an outage of our system”. Outage went on for three weeks. After it got solved, I got in and got the same error as on my first try. Called again and was told they have a technical glitch with some EINs and they have to escalate my case to fix it. Took them week to get back to me. I finally applied on February 1! Now I have to wait 60 days from February 1 and I’m losing clients as I’m unable to e-file.

Does anyone know if there is any way to speed up the process or anyone else to contact on the IRS end? I know – NAIVE for me to think but I thought I would give it a shot.
